Bio

Omir Santos- East Central College- Baseball 2000-2001

Omir Santos was recruited from his home town of Bayamon, Puerto Rico to East Central College. Santos made his passion for the sport of baseball into a career. After capturing East Central College's only Missouri Community College Athletic Conference Championship in baseball during his sophomore year in 2001, Santos garnered NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors. He led the team in batting average and RBI in his second collegiate season.

After being drafted by the New York Yankees in 2001 in the 21st round of the MLB draft, he made his way through the minor leagues with the Yankees affiliate clubs from 2001-2007. He played at the major league level with the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. Santos had a long professional career and collected 122 major league appearances where he totaled 80 hits, 41 RBI and 7 home runs. Santos was named to the Topps MLB All-Star Rookie Team in 2009 with the New York Mets.

Currently, Santos works as the Akron Rubber Ducks bench coach, which is a Cleveland Indians affiliate. He resides with his wife Gelitza and family in Kissimmee, FL and owns and runs the Triple Crown Sports Academy, a baseball training facility and travel baseball organization.
